Let me set the scene: it’s the day before Valentine’s Day and your husband and you decided long ago that you weren’t doing gifts this year. Then all of a sudden he brings up how he got you a thoughtful gift. You’re scrambling and can’t make it out to the store and Amazon just won’t cut it.
Girl I got you! I have thought of some last minute gifts that you may already have on hand or if you can make it out, relatively cheap to make. Because let’s face it we’ve all been there and need some help sometimes.
Chocolate Covered Strawberries
Strawberries and chocolate are a necessary grocery item every week. Therefore I always have the ingredients on hand for chocolate covered strawberries. To make them a little more seasonal throw some heart sprinkles (something I always have on hand) and display them nicely. I’ve also seen people cut the strawberry in half to make a heart shape. That could be another cute alternative or do both! The quickest way to anyone’s heart is FOOD!
Heart Shaped Pizza
Again food because I’m obsessed. We have a local pizzeria that makes any pizza into a heart on Valentine’s Day. So call around and see if any of yours does the same. If they don’t they may make an exception if you request it all you have to do is ask. No one will do it? So what shape your own pizza or cut a frozen pizza into a heart. Better yet make your own pizza crust! To make it even more extra cut the pepperoni to look like hearts!
Tinley LOVED this! Look at how proud she is of this little Valentine for Daddy! I just shaped a toilet paper roll into a heart shape and let her run wild. She is under two so this is something that can be done with little kids. She actually made some pretty good hearts. Bonus I got to keep her in one place for 15-20 minutes. I added the hands last minute for an added touch but that is totally optional. Also, we only used one colored heart but if you’re feeling ambitious use as many as you like!
Netflix and Romance
It doesn’t always have to be something fancy spending alone time is the best gift ever! So after the kids go to bed turn off your cell phones and just cuddle up to watch The Office. Here are some of the “romantic” episodes:
Season 2 Episode 16
Season 5 Episode 16
Season 7 Episode 15
Write them a Letter
Really have no time? Write your loved one a letter. It can be on just normal notebook paper but I used this slab of wood I had hanging around. Pour your heart out and they will cherish it forever. My sister still has boxes of notes she got in high school and loves looking back on them. It really is a lost art and I think we should all start writing more letters. The Erin Condren markers I got are amazing to write a letter with a little flair. One side is thick so you can do some fun calligraphy and the other side is fine for the body.
